D23 – Report of week 3
It has now been three weeks since we started the expedition. This is the report of week 3.
We covered over 25 kms average per day during the past week and we are now closer to South Pole than we are to our expedition starting point. With app. 425 kms to ski to the South Pole, our goal is to reach it by Christmas Eve.
The weather has been good over the past week – or at least good enough to get out of the tent safely and ski every day.
We had three days of total white out which made navigation more complex and then sun was back again and fully appreciated – even with the windy background !
We are so far in good shape and so is the equipment.
We have reached today the altitude of 1,750 meters – highest point of the expedition being app. 2,800 meters.
Weather forecast is good for the next couple of days.
More to come…
